Free members’ event: Practical online session on running a CSA, Wed 5 Aug 6:00pm

Community-supported agriculture is way for eaters to share with the farmer the costs and risks of farming as well as the bounty. CSA models are among the best examples of an already-existing model for fairer, more connected, and democratic food systems, founded in solidarity.

AFSA is running a special members’ session for growers (or aspiring growers) to join an in-depth discussion on starting and running a CSA. Whether you currently operate a CSA and want to learn more, or want to know more about starting one, come join us!

Hosted by AFSA’s experienced CSA growers Tammi Jonas of Jonai Farms, Ant Wilson of Tellurian Fruit Gardens, Mel Charlick of Roly Poly Farm, and Dan Cordner of Bellasato Farm, they’ll be discussing their tools, strategies, and key questions for setting up and managing a CSA model, including:

  • Why CSA? The principles of Teikei and how they apply in practice: benefits and questions to consider.
  • Finding your local market for CSA
  • Managing CSA shares
  • Engaging with your members and building a CSA ‘farmily’
  • Q&A discussion: what are your questions & challenges around CSA?

Members will receive an invitation to register by email. If you’re a current member and would like to register – please check your inbox or get in touch with us for links at admin@afsa.org.au
