AFSA National Coordinator Nick Rose and Greenpeace GM Wheat Campaigner Claire Parfitt had an article published on the Australian comment website and discussion forum, Online Opinion, on 13th June 2011.

The article entitled, ‘The Future of Australia’s food: who’s calling the shots?‘ argued that the priorities of food and farming in Australia are overwhelmingly directed towards securing and maintaining high levels of corporate profitability, rather than satisfying basic human needs for nutritious food in ways that are consistent with the ethical treatment of animals and preserving the health and integrity of the country’s ecosystems.

The authors argue that the principles of Food Sovereignty offer a pathway to begin the urgent and necessary work of re-orienting the priorities of food and farming in this country, and globally.
