AFSA commends the Food Regulation System for acknowledging the need for significant food regulation reform. However, we seek to underscore that large-scale industrial agriculture and corporations still exercise excessive market control over independent producers, who play a critical role in feeding local communities. In addition, the consultation paper notes pressing challenges, such as climate change and emerging diseases, will put significant pressure on food systems and its stakeholders.
